Purple Iris: part 1
Alright, a few months ago I wrote a fanfic that I wasn't particularly proud of. So I've decided to loosely restart from a third person limited.

Angel Shepard awoke the morning of the first day of her sophomore year with a somewhat frightening confidence. She was a slender girl with average height, but stood apart from most due to the fact she had dark purple eyes, something she received from her father's side of the family. She loved that it was something that set herself apart from people and the hour she had put into her long black hair after waking up only added to her excitement. Angel had moved from a small town in Vermont to a private school in upstate New York that allowed both boys and girls. She hadn't seen the boy's uniform, but the girls was a white dress shirt and tie under a red jacket with the schools logo on the left side of the chest. The bottom half was a checkered brown skirt that went down to right above the knees. The school seemingly didn't have a policy on shoes or socks, so long as the shoes weren't sneakers or sandals. She decided to just wear regular brown shoes as she didn't think anyone else would put that much time into it either. Angel had only moved into the dorm a day ago so she wasn't able to put her own flare on the place quite yet. She was amazed at the place though; personal bath, sink, shower, desk and everything else. The only thing she was missing was a kitchen and she didn't know how to cook so unless she could bare with mac and cheese for a year. She had a room all to herself and was rather content to let it stay that way. Her friends back home always complained about how much she snored during sleep-overs and that she would sometimes kick her feet, almost knocking out someone once.
Angel hadn't met anyone else yet as she spent most of yesterday unpacking and trying to recuperate from being on a train for a few hours. Angel left her dorm room and locked the door behind her. Angel walked down the hall and stairs to the girls dorm cafeteria, where she would be eating her breakfast and dinner. When she arrived no one else was there except for an older woman cleaning tables. "Huh, I wonder where everyone's at?" Angel thought to herself as she scanned the room, noticing trash left on the ground. "Excuse me, Miss? Where is everyone?" The older woman looked up from the table she was cleaning with a rather dirty looking rag. "They all left already. By the way why are you still here?" Angel looked at the woman with a confused look on her face. "What do you mean? Classes don't start for another half an hour." The older woman rolled her eyes and said "Always get one every year" under her breath. "Classes may start at nine, but the ceremony for students starts at eight." Angel's confused expression quickly turned into an expression that had 'Oh shit' written all over it. She quickly ran out the cafeteria and through the dorm entrance to the courtyard. She looked over the trees to see the school less than a quarter of a mile away. Her original plan was to eat breakfast with ten minutes to spare for traveling, but as was stated before that didn't go over so well.
By the time she reached the school she was completely out of breath. She ran the entire quarter of a mile in dress shoes and a skirt and still made it in less than three minutes, but now wasn't the time to worry about that as the ceremony was already half over. She crept to the auditorium door trying to be as quiet as possible. "Alright. If I open the door only a tad and then move along the back wall, while scanning the room for an open seat I think everything will be fine." As Angel reached for the door knob she took a large gulp. She was never good with any type of situation that might bring attention to her in an embarrassing fashion. Even if you told her it was okay, she still would think about it for another week. Angel peeked into the door and looked around before entering. The size of the student body was relatively small at only five hundred students with most being children of the upper-class. As Angel opened the door you could hear it creek every three to four inches it moved, making her take nervous flinches every time it did so. When the hole was wide enough, she slithered inside and closed the door behind her. A few students and faculty looked back, but the speaker must not have noticed as he just kept going with his speech. Angel moved along the wall just like she planned and saw a seat in the last row, making her believe that she had finally caught a break. She moved through the row and to the seat, sitting between two guys who seemed to be looking at her every few minutes or so.
"Well, in conclusion I look forward to being your Principal this year. Thank you." The man waved at the crowd of students and took a seat in an empty chair on stage. While the rest of the students clapped, Angel was amused in how the Principal resembled a panda. He was rather burly with white hair and a friendly aura, which seemed out of place in such a serious school. The next person to approach the podium was a young looking secretary type with red hair and blue eyes. "Thank you, Mr. Levy. That concludes the ceremony, all students may go to their classes. However, Ms. Shepard!" Angel jumped and looked around, "Is she talking to me? Shepard's a common name. There's no way she was talking to me" kept racing through her mind. Eventually she pointed to herself and the secretary looking woman nodded. By now everyone was looking at her and it caused her face to turn a deep red. "Meet me in the Principal's office so we can discuss your tardiness."
Angel was one of the last to leave the auditorium, mostly due to the fact that she was so embarrassed her legs wouldn't move. The Principal's office wasn't far from the auditorium, both being near the main entrance. She walked into the main office to see an elderly women sitting behind the desk. "Can I help you?" asked the elderly woman, who was now easily identified as the actual secretary. "I-I'm here to see Mr. Levy." The elderly woman moved her ear closer to Angel. "You here to feed Stevie?" Angel rolled her eyes and leaned forward. "I'm here to see Mr. Levy." The elderly women raised her eyebrows and pointed at the door the said 'Mr. Levy's office' on it. "Really?" thought Angel as she looked at the secretary. She knocked on the door and within a second the young woman appeared in front of her having pulled the door open. She directed Angel to a chair in front of Mr. Levy who sat across the desk with a big smile on his face. The young women stood next to Levy and tapped her finger on her hip. "So why were you late?" asked the young woman in a demanding tone. Angel sat there with her hands on her knees struggling to come up with a valid reason. "I-I over slept." She almost smacked herself in the head for using that excuse. Mr. Levy smiled while adjusting his glasses, "Well, no harm done." The young woman looked at the Principal in shock, "Mr. Levy, what do you mean?!" Mr. Levy looked at the young women, never once losing his smile. "Now, Ms. Hindel. Ms. Shepard is one of our academic scholarship students and holds great potential. Plus, I must admit my speeches are pretty boring." He took a small laugh and pressed his intercom. "Miss. Delaney? Miss. Delaney?!" He shook his head and looked at Angel, "God bless her." After a second the elderly secretaries voice from earlier came over the intercom. "Yes, Mr. Levy?" Levy looked at his computer and back to Ms. Hindel. "You may be my vice-principal, but I still make the rules. Now, Miss. Delaney could you please send in Ms. Craft. Thank you." Levy out his hands on the table, cupping them and brought his attention back to Angel. "Ms. Craft is a sophomore like yourself and is a wonderful girl. She will help you adjust to life here. We rarely get students who attend after having already completed a year in high school." As the door knob turned Levy widened his eyes and revealed them to be a surprisingly dark gray, almost lifeless in appearance. "I expect great things from all students, Ms. Shepard."
